Conference Venue and travel information:

The SIP Conference 2024 will take place at Campus Gusshaus of the Technical University of Vienna, located at Gusshausstraße 27-29, A-1040 Vienna. Vienna is well known for its well established public transportation system, which makes it easy to reach the conference.

By train:

Vienna's Hauptbahnhof (Main train station) is a central hub for trains, connecting the city with various national and international destinations. High-speed and regional train connections offer a comfortable travel option at a reasonable cost. The conference location can be reached from the main station within 20 minutes walking. and within 15 minutes of public transport (1 station with U1 to station Taubstummengasse)

By airplane:

The Vienna International Airport (VIE) serves as the main gateway to the city. Upon arrival, attendees can conveniently reach the city center by train or airport shuttle. Trains S7 (https://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/arrival-departure/airport-to-center/express-train-s7-345644) and others from the Austrian Railways (https://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/arrival-departure/airport-to-center/intercityexpress-349074), as well as the City Airport Train (CAT, (https://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/arrival-departure/airport-to-center/city-airport-train-343124) commute frequently between the airport and the city center. In addition, bus connection https://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/arrival-departure/airport-to-center/bus-connections-341992) and Taxi (https://www.wien.info/en/travel-info/arrival-departure/airport-to-center/taxi-360908) are also available.

The conference will provide each participant with a 7-days public transport ticket. For public transportation from the airport, participants need to purchase an additional train ticket (1 zone, about 2.20 Euros) or use the CAT ticket (16.00 Euros).

Public transport

Vienna provides an excellent public transportation system, including buses, trams, trains, and the subway system (https://www.wienerlinien.at/web/wl-en ).

Public transportation stops next to the conference venue are Taubstummengasse (U1) (355 m), Karlsplatz (U1, U4) (600 m), Paulanergasse (tram 1, 62, BB) (200 m) or Gußhausstraße (tram D) (500 m).

Using public transportation is convenient, efficient and safe. We will also use public transportation for the Excursion, reaching the 5 K run location, the BBQ and Banquet site.

A personalized pdf ticket covering public transport (including buses, metro trains, and trams) within the “Kernzone” (formerly Zone 100) of Vienna will be provided by the conference. This ticket will be sent to the participants by e-mail about two weeks before the start of the meeting and will be valid from Saturday, July 27 (0:00 am), until Saturday, August 3 (1:00 am). The ticket is only valid if you carry an identity card or passport with you.
